I read the new article arguing that the community has a right to know the circumstances of a missing teen because somehow respecting privacy of a family that is clearly aware of a problem and ostensibly working it out is the same as protecting child abusers. I read the article with an open mind and was willing to be swayed. I stand by my position. Runaways (if thats what it was) are not a communal problem nor is there any indication that it is part of a trend. Further, the public benefit to hearing the details are so minimal that I would be shocked if anything useful could be gleaned from the story. Finally, it is not our decision to make nor is it our place to make such demands. Next.
