I read this post yesterday from one of our Classmates of the 60s Butch LaFonte. I hope he doesnt mind my posting here. I thought so appropriate for all of us to see: Im So Proud Of Being Part Of The Sixties I was 12 years old when the 1960s decade started. I came of age during the sixties. Talk about history, changing the world, I lived it all. My class reunion tonight is made up of all the graduating classes from the 1960s decade. We had the courage, the dreams, to go out in the streets and change the world for the better. Yes, we changed the world and stopped a war that would still be taking our youth to this very day. We paved the way for equal rights for women, for the civil rights act, the voting rights act. We got the environment cleaned up. We did away with the laws that made being gay a criminal offence. The best rock music that has ever been recorded came from the sixties. The list goes on and on. But more than anything we were about love and peace. Im so proud to have been part of the sixties. We said we would never grow old and we never will. That is our reward for having the guts to take on all that was unjust, We were young, brave, dreamers, lovers. We showed the world there was more to life that money, material things. We had substance, ideals. We rocked and always will! A GREAT BIG SHOUT OUT TO THE REUNION PLANNING COMMITTEE FOR PULLING THIS TOGETHER! WE DID IT!
