I really dont want to use FB only as a spot to talk about work/ career items (although some would say Im a life learner so maybe thats just a lot of my shares). Ive been thinking to just create a group of friends and have it open to Any of you that want to join, so I can keep sharing my more emotional and/or life- related posts, as Im not sure I can filter out those who will not appreciate my honest view of my consensus reality (as reality might be a bit far fetched as my honesty is likely based on having my own narratives of what honesty entails). I never really wanted more than 1k friends on FB, because I enjoy intimacy, but journalism, social media, and well, my love for humans, have made me meet more amazing people and get more interesting folks to request knowing me as time has kept going and my life on Facebook has gone from a couple years to be many years...I really would be sad if any of you just left without telling me from my FB group as I do not think of virtual as separate from the real world, but a less location based space to connect as Im fairly lucky to have met some amazing people because of my openness to others (thank you). Yet, this is no longer really a Facebook of one event or time or sorts. Here now rests on my friend group, friends, past co-workers/ many more friends than just that!, guys I dated, ex boyfriends, high school friends, college friends, people met on euro travels, girls met on Madagascar project/ my soul sisters,friends in my many career paths that are as diverse as myself, my mom, cousins, dads employees, interns I adored, friends of friends I encountered, people who wanted to hire me, people who might hire me, people that I love, people that have made me cry, people I forgot how we met(?),And mainly people I have confirmed I met, with still only 1-2% of folks being those I never met. So what next? Do I keep flowing between posts of my passions, my stories from the streets of my life, and mix it all in ? I dont want to lose myself in the filtering of our technological lives. I fear as places like Thailand embrace the pluralism of our streets, the already filtered world of Americans will also suffer from ever-filtering online too. I share as much for sharing with all of you as I do to poke the filter bubbles and to have others poke mine too. At times I visit the pages of those FB has long left out of my feed, just to recall they exist and to get them to know I still care. I guess I wonder how youre all doing dear humans, if its necessary for us to create these separations in our lunch box chats, or shall we just have a mix, and take life as it is? Whats the future of these wall feeds of ours? I would love your thoughts and apologize this is a long read. Nn
