I really enjoy seeing the things that folks make using their csms, but since I do most of my csm things in metal, I hope some Crankers will enjoy seeing a project I recently completed. I like to think it all turned out looking nice and looks like it could have been original to the machine. Someone had a Creelman World Star knitter that had the crank mount and assembly broken at one time. The way it was repaired was to weld the mount back together, cut down the mount holding the crank shaft and then weld a piece of flat steel bar to the crank shaft, as a crank handle. Because I love helping to make the old machines whole again, I made new parts for the crank assembly and reworked the mount. The following pictures show the new parts and rework of the mount that I did. The fun part was figuring out how to make the parts, so I could size, machine and assemble them, so there would be proper side to side movement of the crank arm and drive gear.
