I really thought 2014 was going to kick my ass. Quite honestly, I believe its been the worst year of my entire life. Broken bones, injuries, death, legal and financial nightmares, it was an emotional roller coaster ride. But I survived it. During many of my darkest days, Ive had no other options but to ask God for the strength to endure the next 24 hours. So far, God has never let me down. I didnt go anywhere or do anything for any of the holidays except stay inside and eat and sleep and stay warm while counting my blessings that I have plenty of food, a roof over my head and a warm place to sleep. Ive been doing a lot of reading and research about history to pass the hours and days. History is fascinating stuff, I never get completely bored if I have something good to read. Thank God for the Internet, you can read about whatever you want without ever having to go to the library, we live in remarkable times. My amaryllis plant is about to bloom and the birds and squirrels have been keeping me entertained. I think about our ancestors struggles to survive these long winters and Im grateful for the simple things we have, and take for granted, like modern plumbing, hot running water and electricity. All things considered, weve got things pretty easy nowadays. No big plans for 2015, except to purchase a fishing license. Last year, because of circumstances beyond my control, I never got out fishing on the river. I know thats hard to believe, but its the truth. Without a drivers license, my activities have been extremely limited, but I take the bus and train to see my therapist and listen to live music every week. I have lost 25 pounds since using public transportation, I saved lots of money and every trip is a new experience and frequently also a challenging adventure. My transportation options should be changing in a few more months. Things could be a lot worse, and hopefully, things will get better in the future. There is much confusion, pain and suffering in this world, lets work on reducing some of it in our own small humble way. Hoping all my family, friends and Facebook buddies have a rewarding new year. God bless all of you,
