I really want to call Car Talk with this question but I figure Id get a quicker (and possibly funnier) response here : I have a friend (read : husband) who claims I am messing up our cars because I use the parking brake all the time. Flat ground, slight slope, steep hill...I use it. My reasoning is the weight of the car is resting on the brake and not the gear box/transmission. And its just habit. His reasoning is...I dont really know what his reasoning is but he claims its unnecessary unless on a very steep slope. I claim the only reason he says its messing up the cars is because hell drive around for a bit with the brake on after Ive driven because hes not paying attention. Im right, right?!?
