I really wish people would pay attention in government/civics - TopicsExpress

I really wish people would pay attention in government/civics class before commenting on topics related to the extent of police power or at least do a cursory search that explains what it is. Its really frustrating to have to debate a premise that is already an established and accepted part of our government that the police DO carry more power and privileges than the established citizen. This is something we all learn in school and something that has been an understood part of our criminal justice system since the beginning of our country. This has been given to them by the consent of the governed under the authority of the Tenth Amendment, which delegates the task of law enforcement to the states. You can argue balance of interests or due process, but to try to argue that police should have no more power than an ordinary citizen is just uneducated as well as completely impractical. Please do some research. Maybe this will be helpful: merriam-webster/dictionary/police%20power
