I recall reading an article about how men often move about the world with a sense of entitlement in regards to physical space. Sitting with legs spread apart, arms fanned out etc. While women tend to close up, legs together, arms folded, and try to make themselves take up as little space as possible. The more I travel the more I see how true this is. Ironically for me, being an amazon, I find the prospect of trying to make myself small uncomfortable, and frankly unnatural. Sometimes Ive even felt apologetic if I sit next to a big man thinking that I am somehow responsible for the space we share, and that a smaller person would allow him to occupy that space. No more. Ive started taking my space back. Guess what dude on the plane that sits with legs wide open spilling into my area? Im spreading em too and my legs are solid and strong. So look out dudes that occupy my space, Im taking that shit back.
