I recall walking home from Florence which route was right up State Street. You know the 2 1/2 block long hill at a steep angle up to North Ridge Drive. Just past the top was the Mormon cemetery when I often stopped to get a drink from the water fountain and then onto Young St and home. Much later I was told by someone from the Florence Historical Society that many of those buried in that cemetery were Indians since before it was Mormon it was an Indian burial ground and that burial ground including the graves of many Mormons was across State Street on a now vacant lot.
