I receieved a response today from the State on my email. Well, if thats what you want to call it. They forwarded my email to Carol Gelatt, the Indiana Coordinated School Health Specialist, BSN, RN. I would be willing to bet no one even read through it, they skimmed it, seen some references to physical activity and sent it on to her. Here is what she had to say: Ms. Baker, Your email was forwarded to me and I thank you for sharing your concerns. The Indiana Department of Education does support a healthy school environment including physical activity during the school day. How your school chooses to implement physical activity into their students day is their decision. You have taken the correct steps in notifying your school’s administration of your concerns.
