I received a message last night that made me cry. I photographed - TopicsExpress

I received a message last night that made me cry. I photographed an incredibly special wedding last year. Jeannette was my first college roommate, we were adorable Freshman nerds together, her husband is a photographer, no pressure. Her mom passed away when she was younger and she grew up with an exceptionally close bond with her father. These are the beautiful words he sent me on their wedding anniversary: Kyle Hepp you did an awesome job that day. I have more photos of that wedding and I never tire of looking at them. Each time I do, I see some small detail that I had not seen before and ask myself, How did she do this? Better yet, there is a photo of me putting my wifes pearl necklace on Jeannette. Were looking at each other with a note of joy and nostalgia all mixed into one and you caught it. I dont remember you even being in the room, never mind that close. How did you do that and how did you know that was going to be a very special moment? Did you know about the necklace beforehand? Its very special. Its been in Jeannettes family for four generations, I think. Her great grandma gave it to her grandma to wear at her wedding. Grandma gave it to mom to wear at her wedding, then Jeannette wore it at her wedding. How could you possibly know the history and capture it so intimately? Im in awe. The last time I saw that necklace was on my wedding day over 30 years ago. Thanks for a beautiful memory. And what a beautiful reminder to us as photographers, to never stop trying as hard as you possibly can, every single wedding. You have no idea what these images will mean to someone, someday, or even right now. Thank you so much to Dr. Rivera for letting me share his email
