I received a message today asking What happed to Schmicks. Referring to working for Schmicks Market. Schmicks Market is a great store, owned by a great family and employees a great group of employees. When Cody called me and offered me a position for the second time I accepted the offer with reservation. `When I submitted my resignation to Shopko, I was burnt out on retail...didnt even want to walk into a store....just so tired of it. Eight months earlier November 2012, as Shopko took over the former Pamida Stores, I began preparing to get out of retail. I got my CDL, with all endorsements including Tanker and Hazardous Materials. July, I submitted my resignation and had an opportunity to drive in Arkansas, which I needed to do to get experience. Two months later October, Cody made me an offer to manage at Scmicks Market and I reluctantly accepted......accepting the offer was a mistake and I wasnt happy managing...just burnt out on it and not motivated by that position anymore....I believe I lost that passion to manage when Shopkos took over Pamida........for me Pamida was a great company that I took great ownership in......Shopko really isnt interested in a manager who can manage just a monkey in a suit.......or so thats how us Pamida Managers felt....mostly true. After starting at Schmicks, I quit and it may not have been the right thing to do, but it was right for me. As a Manager my salary was $1,000. a week.......as a Tanker/Hazmat Driver my salary is $2,100. a week........thats motivating and makes me happy. I have the option to work locally down here or work regionally and for now I work regionally. Working in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and southern Kansas........I enjoy what Im doing very well. I appreciate my friends concern and it was a tough decision to leave Broken Bow, I struggled with it, but it was the right decision for me and while I may not live and work in Bow, I will still visit.....after all I do have a great connection with the area.
