I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft - TopicsExpress

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft and they wanted to alert me to some malware or some other computer issue that supposedly was in my computer. I questioned that and tried to find out how I could verify that. After going back and forth, the person hung up. I notified Microsoft directly and received this email back: Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service today. Microsoft does not contact customers unless the customer initiates it, has provided their contact information and expects a response as a follow up. Microsoft does not monitor or detect malware remotely and make unsolicited telephone calls. Anyone purporting to be a Microsoft representative claiming such is not connected with Microsoft.
