I received an interesting question from a good friend recently, and after thinking about it, realized that there may be a bunch of people who are not protocol droids but would still like to know our Kingdom tradition regarding TOASTING at a dinner gathering. So, I wrote it up as I understand it, and asked the person who taught me to vet it (Hi, Dukeflieg Sca) ...please comment if your mileage varies too much... At a regular feast (not usually at a pot luck, but YMMV) the ranking Noble (Duke or Duchess who has been one the longest) toasts the King and Queen (of the West if you are in the West, and whether they are there or not); the next ranking noble toasts the next present ranking Royal (visitor King/Queen; if none, then ranking Prince/Princess) and so on and so on; usually, no Royal below Lord and Lady of X ie heirs to the Principality thrones are toasted, unless its a Baronial event, then the hosting Baron/Baroness are the final toast. Once the Royals etc. are toasted, the HOSTING royal can toast as they wish - usually the chef/cook or autocrat or winner of the days tourney or competition...
