I received my copy of The Retiree Newsletter today and came across a name I recognized. I Googled the name and with a few clicks, found this obituary. I knew Jim Clancy for about two years while we were stationed together at Station Grays Harbor. In fact, he was my next door neighbor. He was a really nice guy with a great sense of humor. One story Ill always remember about him was one day, he came over to the Admin Building to pick up mail and some supplies. Mixed in were a stack of just received micro-fiche cards, held together with a rubber band. As he was exiting the building, he lost his grip on everything he was trying to carry, along with that stack of cards. This area of the building was kind of like a breezeway / open area and the wind was blowing a bit (as it does along the Pacific Coast). The Storekeeper and I heard the thud of the packages he was carrying, then a Sh!t, FX@^!!! Thinking he may have fallen and possibly hurt himself, we got up to look and saw these micro-fiche cards swirlling in a vortex (mini tornado) and poor Jim trying to grab them out of the air. Since we saw he wasnt hurt, we began to laugh at his prediciment. Sorry to see you pass so early on, Jim. Condolences to your wife and family.
