I received some really beautiful letters about Beauty of the Broken this morning. I will never get over the joy and gratitude I feel when someone takes the time to respond to my work. It lived in a drawer for so many years. It still shocks me that other people want to talk about Iggy, a person only that, for over a decade, only I and a few friends knew. Thank you, thank you to the people who are taking the time to write me about the book. I know your time is precious, and the fact that you gave some of it to my art, and to me, honors me profoundly. A shout out to my Momma, who finished it this morning, and said it was hard to read, but that it was beautiful, and an important and timely message about oppression. I was such a dweeb for thinking even for a second that my beautiful, brilliant family would be anything but the amazing, supportive humans they have always been when this book came out. I feel like the luckiest woman alive.
