I received the latest Spectrum Annual this week. It is, as always, sumptuous and beautifully produced and crafted by Cathy and Arnie Fenner. But except for a very few contributors (Omar Rayyan, Stephanie Law, Kinuko Y. Craft, Cory Godbey, Ruth Sanderson, etc.) I feel totally out of place amongst the great preponderance of the dark and the gothic that fills its pages. All beautifully rendered of course (and on occasion even over rendered) but I just dont feel comfortable anymore seeing my art set amongst all those violent images so I wont be submitting any more work to the venue in the future.
