I received this email from the Board of Directors at S.W.A.N. - TopicsExpress

I received this email from the Board of Directors at S.W.A.N. (Servicewomens Action Network) this morning. I am writing to share some important news with you. This winter Anu Bhagwati will be stepping away from her role as executive director of SWAN. As our Founding Executive Director, Anu has been instrumental in helping us pave the way for a brand new military and veterans landscape in which meritocracy, justice and dignity prevail. This is an exciting time for us. And we are ever so grateful for her dedication, devotion and steadfastness in building and leading a national organization that has become a major force for change. We fully support Anu as she embarks on her new journey - working to complete a book, spend time with her family and consider her next steps in public service. She will leave behind a legacy of inspired leadership and historic policy reforms that have had an enormous impact on the lives of service women and women veterans everywhere. As we look toward the New Year, the Board of Directors is taking careful steps to ensure that SWAN does not miss a beat in our work. We have hired a transition team and formed an executive committee, chaired by me, that will work to lead a national search for a new executive director. Anu will serve until the end of the year in a part-time executive director capacity. We have also taken the important step of hiring a seasoned interim CEO, Erica Hunt, who will provide valuable operations and strategy support during the transition. Erica is an organizational development consultant with decades of experience in the nonprofit sector working on issues of womens rights and racial justice. To ensure continuity, Erica will continue to apply her in-depth knowledge and impressive experience to ensure SWANs policy and litigation efforts move forward. In early January, we will begin our search for a new permanent executive director. On behalf of everyone at SWAN, we thank you for believing in our work and for your continued support in the upcoming months. Anu is well-loved by us all. We owe much of our success to her and wish her the best in all of her future endeavors. Stay tuned for continued updates on our work, an event to honor Anu and the work she has done for service women and women veterans everywhere, and a special note from Anu to our community.
