I received this heart-warming email from Lisa Bourjeili a few days ago acknowledging everyones efforts who helped us raise much needed funds for the Swing for Jack initiative I will never be able to find words that could ever come close to describing the feeling Jack and I experienced when Johnny first approached us saying his friends would like to organize a fundraiser to raise funds for Jacks treatment. Jack always used to say “even though I’ve gone through so much with my illness, I’m so thankful because I’ve had so many blessings along the way”. And that is exactly what you were to us. You were an amazing blessing in our lives and God bought you all to us at the perfect time. Jack was in hospital facing one of the toughest times in his journey preparing for cardiothoracic surgery to try and improve the state of his right lung. His right lung was severely damaged from the Hodgkin’s lymphoma and all the past toxic treatment he had received. While we were in hospital facing the harsh reality and everyday challenges, we were surprised to find out everything was up and ready to go when we didn’t even expect a thing. Before we knew it within the first 2 days funds raised were up to $10,000 and the burpees just kept coming. The love, support and the way this community came together just to show a stranger they cared will never be forgotten. We were so overwhelmed. I remember going to visit the boot camp at the park for the first time and both Jack and I couldn’t hold back our tears. Just seeing all the strangers come together for support and to know all of that was for Jack was so overwhelming. Jack could never thank you all enough. To all those who donated, participated in events and even performed burpees, please know your efforts never went unnoticed. Because of all of you, you gave Jack the most amazing gift of all which was hope. Without this Jack would never have been as determined as he was. The feeling of knowing that there were options for treatment out there that could possibly save Jacks life but not having the funds to afford it is one of the worst feelings anyone could experience. We were blessed with you all in our lives and the relief of not having to worry about funds was extraordinary. For us to now be able to help relieve other cancer patients from their stress related to funds for treatment has been the most rewarding gift of all time. Not only were you able to help Jack with parts of his treatment, but please be proud to know that although Jack didn’t end up making it overseas, you have helped others who are in a similar situation to what Jack was. Another amazing fundraiser called ‘United For Jack’ was also held and the combined funds have helped: *Jack, with his high dose intravenous Vitamin C treatment. Covered costs for organic produce and equipment needed during his alternative therapy. Funds were used for a comprehensive personalized treatment study called Genostics CTC which required Jack’s blood samples to be sent to Germany. *Funds were also used to farewell Jack allowing us to create a beautiful and memorable funeral service. * A widow whose husband recently passed away from the harsh treatment used to treat his Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. These funds will help support his wife and three young children aged 15, 12 and 9 years old. * A 30yr old female who has been battling cancer for over 6 years now with conventional treatment still not being a success. She is seeking alternative treatments to help detox and heal her body. * A 24yr old male with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, with a story very similar to Jack’s. Conventional treatments causing more harm than good, he has made the decision to treat himself with alternative therapies. We have received great news with him being on alternative treatment since May 2013, he is now in complete remission! He would not have been able to afford these treatments without your donations and is forever grateful. * 3 cancer patients, who were struggling with funds to pay for a particular treatment as part of their alternative therapy. They are all very thankful for your generosity. * Two young boys, one aged 7 and the other 9 years of age suffering from childhood cancers. Funds were donated to their families to help with financial burdens while having to take time off work to care for their children while in hospital. * A young father, who has suffered with cancer and has been on renal dialysis for almost 2 years now. The funds will help ease some of their financial burdens. * Naga city in the Philippines, where the poorest of the poor are located. Funds were donated to Missionaries of the Poor and Maronite’s on Mission who provide care and support for the sick, homeless and abandoned. Here’s a link to see who you’ve helped out in the Philippines. youtube/watch?v=Ku5BTMjNuSk Jack’s legacy will continue to live on thanks to your generosity, as we strive to keep helping those in need. This thank you is long overdue but I know you all understand considering my circumstances. I ask for you all to please keep families who’ve lost loved ones and I in your prayers always. I find peace in knowing Jack is now living the eternal life in God’s heavenly kingdom. I can truly say I am living proof that true love never ends as I still feel his presence with me always. I am so proud to be Jack’s wife. He truly is the definition of strength, faith and courage. A true inspiration to all On behalf of Jack and our family, I thank you all for your generosity and support. May God bless you all with faith, great health, love and happiness. Love from Jack and Lisa-maree Bourjeili xo
