I received this note from my dog walkers. Please keep an eye out for your pups! We are trying to get the word out to everyone who lives between Lee Highway and 26th Street N along the Columbus Street corridor about poisoned sausages a perpetrator put along the sidewalk. So far four sausages stuffed with pills were found between 23rd and 24th Street, and the Animal Welfare League of Arlington is in the process of testing them. At least two dogs are in the hospital in critical condition, and we are concerned there may be more. We also want everyone who walks in the area - with or without animals - to be vigilant Please be extra cautious to prevent dogs from eating anything off the ground during your walks! Whoever did this could very well do this in another location, so be on the lookout wherever you are walking. The symptoms are diarrhea, excitability, racing heart, and panting. The police and Animal Control have been notified and are investigating the situation. If you see anyone or anything suspicious, call the police 703-558-2222 and Animal Control 703-931-9241 immediately. We hope that whoever did this is caught and there are no more victims!
