I recently commented this on someones question, and thought I would like to post it separately. It is impossible for any one member to keep track of what has been posted previously and to what extent it has been discussed. This is true for most images as well as questions, topics, complaints, and anything else. Even perfectly acceptable conversation starters are posted multiple times, though the poster has no way of knowing that without hours of searching through group history. I have stopped replying to even simple questions, like What was your first exposure to Lovecraft?, because I replied to the same question 5 or 6 times already. Those are perfectly acceptable questions, of course, and I dont mean to complain about them. Everyone just has to realize that with the large numbers in the membership (39,363 members currently), it is difficult for even long-standing members to know what has been said before. New members have it worse, because they are shiny and bright and pop in to discuss what excites them - only to be met with the jaded and disaffected who mock them for their unfamiliarity with the groups historical discussions.
