I recently lost a dear FB friend of mine in north Alabama. Dont remember how we actually met but she was always quick to respond to my comments no matter how silly or far-fetched. What began as random comments evolved into many late night PM discussions. We talked about growing up in north Alabama, schools & churches we had attended, friends we had in common and eventually we moved into discussions about our families. She told me about how she met Elvis when he first began performing in Sheffield. I told her about meeting Merle Haggard and Jerry Lee Lewis. She told me about her song writing and how George Jones recorded one of her songs which became a big hit. We talked about teachers we had loved and churches we grew up in. We discussed friends we had lost touch with and those we knew wed never lose touch with. We talked about our kids and this led to talking about family members wed lost. She was grieving the loss of a wonderful son-in-law while I was grieving the loss of a beloved grandson. We became each others grief counselor and talked about coping with our losses. Our sweetest and deepest conversations began to center around Heaven ..... what we thought it would be like and how wonderful it would be when we got there with our loved ones. We talked about the books wed read on the subject, movies wed seen and sermons wed heard. Strange as it may sound, we had some great discussions on death, dying and Heaven. We spent a lot of time talking about serious questions we wanted to ask Jesus. I never got to meet Betty Belew in this life but I know I will meet her in Heaven. She is now enjoying all the things we talked about doing when we got there. I miss her. I miss our discussions. BUT, I would never call her back to this life even if I could. Who says FB is a waste of time?
