I recently made this all-woollen talith for myself, which I now - TopicsExpress

I recently made this all-woollen talith for myself, which I now wear on weekdays. I still wear the regular white and black-striped talith on Sabbath days, out of respect for that day. As for making a talith, it is well-known in Jewish law that a Jewish man who wishes to wear or drape around himself a relatively large piece of cloth that has four corners, it must be fitted with tassels (tzitzith). This has no bearing on the cloths color or texture. In Yemen, the original custom was to make their talith from black wool, or dark-brown sackcloth (goats hairs). The tassels (tzitzith) were made after Maimonides prescription. In Yemenite Jewish tradition, the huliyyot (bindings) and the kesharim (knots) are one and the same thing, which opinion differs from the practice of the kabbalists.
