I recommend that anybody who enjoys photography to spend some time with the work of Russian filmmaker; Andrei Tarkovsky. Every frame is beautiful. His films do make huge demands on the viewers patience and will probably be dismissed by a generation of kids that fidget through 3 minute YouTube videos, but they are so incredibly rewarding. Watching a Tarkovsky film is like getting a little mental tattoo, it never leaves you. This extract Ive shared is from Stalker an apocalyptic intelligent sci fi film about 3 men entering The Zone all with their unique purpose. The shots, ideas, music even the film stock used is fantastic, not to meantion the blood, sweat, turmoil and death. (No exaggeration, half the film was processed wrong and they had to make it again, and most of the people involved in the making died young possibly from exposure to the abandoned Soviet chemical plants used for the locations) one of my favourite films of all time.
