I refuse to mourn with the family of Dr. Adhu Awiti neither shall I be forced to do so. Back in 1997, Dr. Awiti refused to visit my Uncle John Olum Owalla in hospital while in Kisumu despite the fact the John Owalla funded his campaign and even gave him his compound as his campaign sub quarters. He claimed that my grandfather was a KANU die hard (which was true) and he doesn’t associate himself with KANU, he uttered this statement to please the then LDP leader Raila Odinga but it was to my surprise when later the following year LDP & KANU merged and he was made minister for planning under the same dictatorial regime that exploited Kenyans. This acts of cowardice and double standards makes my heart arrogant and not willing to mourn him.
