I remember 9/11 vividly and recall those moments with clarity and sadness. Though, I also mourn the loss of life that occurs daily on the streets of this nation where countless innocents are murdered, raped, attacked, and terrorized...I mourn the loss of those Muslims on that fateful day who were not recognized because of their faith; I mourn the loss of my civil rights and the loss of intelligence among elected officials and citizens that have been consumed by ignorance and hate, furthering their agendas of Islamophobia, hate rhetoric and racism. I mourn those who have died in Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Bahrain, Sudan, Rwanda, CAR, Liberia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc... I mourn all the innocent lives taken from us by tragedy, war and devastation...as all of these people should be remembered, every day and without needing a date to symbolize their deaths. Though today, I have so much more to mourn, so much more to pray for...my prayers are extended to all who have suffered loss...terrorism happens on a daily basis, though we choose to label it with what serves our needs and agendas rather than calling it what it is, a spade.
