I remember back in the 70s they had a song about Jesus being the driver and us being in the back seat. But it doesnt really work like that. Yes, our walk with Christ can be likened to driving a car. But we are always in the drivers seat. To say we can take the back seat is to suggest we dont have any control over our salvation, and subtly promotes the Eternal Security lie. The bible is our road map, if we follow it carefully it will lead us to Heaven. And when we have the Holy Spirit and are heeding His still, small voice we have our very own co-pilot giving us turn by turn directions. Without these we would never arrive at our Heavenly destination. You know that even when we drive on a straight road we are constantly making tiny micro adjustments to stay between the white lines. We must always be ready to adjust our path as the Spirit leads and even make a U turn when weve gotten off the right path. But Jesus will never take the wheel from us, we must always submit to His direction of our own free wills. God bless you!
