I remember being 13 years old and reciting the lyrics of Travis Tritts Im Gonna Be Somebody over and over at night, as I tried to deal with the deep insecurities of my life, which were exacerbated by school mates and my home life. Through the next 23 years I kept battling to be somebody. I made the highest grade. I helped the most people. I had the best clinic. I had the willingness to help anyone. I still felt empty. Then Saturday, reality hit me like a ton of bricks. I became somebody in 2004, 2007, and 2009. I became the father of three wonderful babies who call me Daddy. I became the hero for these three kids. It hit me that anything outside of those three babies doesnt matter. No goofy arguments about who is right and who is wrong in a situation, no trivial pursuits of artificial happiness, and definitely not anything inside four turnbuckles.
