I remember borrowing my brother Cyrils cool leather jacket and maybe even his dress shoes and pants for an interview at The Prince George Citizen. I was eighteen years old. After the interview, production manager Ken Aitken asked if i could start on Monday. That was May 12th, 1980. Unfortunatley times are tough in the newspaper industry and myself and two other longtime employees/friends, were offered buyouts, and today was my final day as a printer/graphic artist. Quite an emotional couple of weeks for myself leading up to this day. Couldnt have asked for a better bunch of co-workers and managers/publishers for the past 33.5 years. As the cliche goes, time for a new chapter in the book of life. Chapter two will begin at our house in Osoyoos, BC where i will meet up with my wife and daughters. After years of commuting well all finally be together. Perhaps chapter three will be that Ken Aitken in the Okanagan who gives me a chance at that new career, whatever that may be.
