I remember hearing the voice at a young age. It told me that I wasnt smart enough, handsome enough, strong enough, and good enough. The voice said that I would never amount to anything and perhaps I shouldnt have even been born. But something changed. Oh sure, I still heard that voice of negativity, but there was something else...another voice. A voice that I could barely hear at first, faintly, but clearly telling me that I WAS smart enough, I WAS handsome enough, I WAS strong enough, and I WAS good enough. The new voice became louder and louder as I got older...and soon, it was drowning out the old voice all together. This new voice told me that I had what it takes to become a success in this world, although it cautioned me that success is measured in many different ways apart from money. As I listened, the new voice told me that I could make a difference in this world, if I just kept listening to it and following its directions. So I had a choice. Listen to the old voice tell me that I would never amount to anything in my life, or the new voice who told me that I had the chance to make a difference in not only my life but in the lives of others. Guess which voice I listened to? I chose to hear the voice of truth: God. God was right...you know, he is always right! He has given me the opportunity to be HIS voice, to share HIS word, and to help make a difference on this earth. And the best part about it is that I am not the only one to hear his voice. God is talking to all of us, and has been, for all of our lives. Yet somehow we choose to listen to the negative voice instead of the positive. We decide that its better to be comfortable and quiet and safe in our own despair instead of boldly walking by faith in God. Friends, you have a choice. You decide which voice you will listen to...the voice of the enemy, or the voice of your friend, God. Choose wisely. And remember, you may have to make this choice several times in your lifetime...or every day...or every minute. Choose to listen to the voice who wants the best for you. Opt to listen to the voice who has loved you since before you were born. Decide that you will not only LISTEN to his voice, but you will FOLLOW his instructions also. Trust and Obey ...boy do I ever love listening to that hymn. But we need to remember that first, we must LISTEN for Gods voice. He will never lead us astray, abandon us, or forsake us. He always loves us, and wants the best for us. Shhh! Do you hear something? Its the voice of God...and hes speaking to YOU. Are you going to answer him? Amen. ~John Lloyd~
