I remember his deep ebony skin, I remember his eccentric smile - TopicsExpress

I remember his deep ebony skin, I remember his eccentric smile revealing his kola stained teeth, I still see him in my head, seated on a white plastic chair, his big glasses on, eating peanuts and wagging his legs as he reeled off stories about how he refused to be subdued by his previous impecunious state. I still remember the noisy yellow colored toyota crown he drove, I still remember how i would leap with joy whenever I heard those unmistakable groans from his car as it wafted through the hilly terrains that led to my house. How could i forget the little presents he brought with him whenever he came home? He was human, he had his flaws, he made his own mistakes, he was far from being perfect, which was still perfect by me. Today, I remember him, not because he died on this day, but because he was my father, even though his body is no ore to give me that satisfying assurance that he would catch me if I miss my step, his spirit is there to embolden me and make sure that his absence makes me to grow to who I should be, like the proverbial Iron that must pass through fire to be useful. Good morning Dad..... peace.
