I remember in the late 60s and early 70s how outraged my family was over Mohammed Ali. They called him names like deserter and traitor and uppity niggra and then talked about how stupid he acted in interviews. They all hated him with a passion. All except for my mom that is. Even with all of her faults and craziness my mom refused to dislike people based on the color of their skin. All of the family around her did and my step-dad led the racism charge ... and although she never corrected him (he would have beaten her), she never succumbed to that hatred. And now that I listen to what Ali was saying he doesnt sound stupid at all to me.
