I remember swimming, swimming, swimming, up and ever up from deep under water. Finally I broke through the surface, and thus began my arduous climb, dragging myself yard by yard up a great mountain till, when I was at the end of my endurance, I reached the peak. Exhilarated by my triumph, I stood to survey the world around me, only to discover that I was the pre-eminent turd floating in a toilet full of shit. Immediately upon the heels of this realization followed a giant flushing sound, the world began to spin, and the bottom fell out from under me. I’ll spare you the sordid details of the rest of this adventure, except to say that it forever altered my worldview.
