I remember taking a trip on a ferry boat one time that got so - TopicsExpress

I remember taking a trip on a ferry boat one time that got so rough the entire vessel climbed up and down with such force that my feet left the deck. The ocean all around us seemed to roll like clouds in the sky, but I was not afraid. I knew that this vessel was built for this ocean and all its storming. I felt safe inside, no matter what was happening outside of the boat. Charles Spurgeon captured that thought beautifully with this quote All the water in the sea will not hurt your vessel so long as you keep it outside; the danger begins when it gets inside the ship. So, it matters little what is outside you, if all is right within. Its something...the comfort I had on that boat, because I knew that all was right within. In the same way, the work of my Faith in Jesus Christ is an inside job. In the bible, a consistent theme is concerning the care of our hearts (our mind, will and emotions). When I allow the external circumstances of life to dictate to my soul, how to feel, think and act. I have willingly entered into a state of worry, anxiety and panic. I have let the water come into my vessel. Instead, I take the reality of who I am in Christ into every single circumstance. My identity in Him, in my Spirit, directs my souls reaction to the storms of life. The internal work and desires of my Heart fit to my circumstance, not the other way around. This, like that ferry I was on, makes my vessel fit for the job of getting from place to place safely. Even if my feet come off the deck, my soul is anchored rightly. When we worry we dont add a single cubit (about the length from your elbow to your fingertips) to our life. In fact, we could actually be a willing accomplice in sinking our own ship. Matthew 6:28-30
