I remember when I was a kid and my family would occasionally try - TopicsExpress

I remember when I was a kid and my family would occasionally try to take me to church. Every single time I sat in a sermon, little 7 year old me would sit there trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle together. Even then I had been thinking There is no way this crap actually happened. None of it made any sense (and it never will) So basically, I grew up being a skeptical, inquisitive thorn in my familys side. I refused to compromise rational thought for fairy tales when I was a kid (even though I had no idea what rational thought was at the time). Kids are born with a mind set to explore. When I look at parents taking their kids to churches today and demanding them to believe what their pastor says without question it worries me because that inquisitive part of their brain that yearns to explore is being force fed unsubstantiated crap that compromises their ability to think in a rational way. Why would any kid ask questions if he can just say god did it! and be done with it? I was lucky because my parents never demanded any control over the way I think and Im grateful for that.
