I remember when i started producing music, i had no idea what i was doing. I had no musical background, no computer skills and most certainly no ambition to be successful at anything. One day i discovered a program called fruityloops, I had no idea what the program was or what it was used for, I downloaded it strictly because it had a funny name. I started making some shitty beats then progressed to a program called Ableton and from there it all began! Since starting back then, Ive been lucky enough to have had 17 of my remixes enter the top 50 Aria club chart, 1 of those hitting top spot! 2 original productions hitting the top 5, 3 overall hitting the top 10. I have ghost written 11 tracks for other artists, one being a major name in the rnb/hip hop scene and this particular record hit number 1 on over 20 charts worldwide! I will not mention who or which track, as its called ghost writing for a reason and I am contracted to silence. The point of my status is that if you really want something then go out and try to achieve it! I grew up in broadmeadows with my mum and sister in a shitty flat which is also known as the broady bronx. I had no computer, no youtube, nobody to turn to when i needed help with my music. I had nobody to give me advice and absolutely no funding at all to put towards achieving my goals and for whatever reason, when people wouldnt help me or had no time to help me, (which is perfectly fine) i just kept on going about my business and kept my head up. People need to focus on whats going on in there own backyards before worrying about anyone elses! In my case, I would just put in the extra time to figure it out for myself. My advice to others.... Is to put in the hours like i did and many others have. You have all the digital resources at your disposal now, youtube, production magazines and so on. I had to teach myself when nobody could help or guide me! I spent hours in my bedroom trying, testing and experimenting with plug ins, programs and all kinds of equipment. There was no easy way to do things, i was recording percussion sounds for my tracks with a shitty 30 dollar mic and a 120 dollar external drum machine that sounded like a wounded cow... You have your samples created for you now, take advantage! Nobody can teach you how to write a #1 hit, but you sure as hell can get influenced by your surroundings and by others. Put everything you have into you achieving your dreams, cause even if you never get exactly what you want, in the end, at least you know you gave it your all and at least you had fun trying to get there. In my eyes, thats an achievement on its own. Everything comes at a cost, whether it be financial or personal sacrifice! One thing that does come free though and money cant buy, is your drive and your will to be the best at what you do. Have a great monday people!
