I sat up all night listening to all my local songs from back home, and just as the dawn was breaking up in PNG 0600hrs, and 0300hrs China the Pipes & Drums music. Of whcih I was privileged to have I believe is one of the last copy, that Late Mr Waibaru, (Sgt Philip Waibaru) had a pick up p at his house and I took it with me in 2007 to Port Moresby and had it burned into a CD by NBC and its with me except for Rice simo i anina and 3 more days in Sohano bcos the edge of it was allready burnt by the heat. As a Soldiers Son growing up at Taurama Barracks in the 1960s and seeing our papas Late Jock Peni, CWO Pisa, Sgt Keity, Sgt Piteari ol lapun pinis tasol PNGDF usim ol lo pilaim musik blo mipela. This lapuns did not have a proper education as you and Ito read Music and write music yet they can hear by their ear and play they competed in a lot of the Tatoos in their time now a lot of them a old and some have gone ahead of their peers. My only concern is this is the pride of the Military in Battle, yetmipela larim olsem na ol i dai aut tasol ol pinis man i stap na holim band yet, So my issue is please could we bail the Band out and restore it to its former glory Days. This is my call to all my brothers and sisters whose fathers have served in the PNGDF (dependents) and were raised and have seen the band perform during our upbringing in one way or another, if we can establish a committee and raise funds to support the band. We have his Excellency Ambassador Peter Ilau, Ms Nelly Peni (New York office) whose father Late CWO Jock Peni was a mainstayer of the band in Taurama, Lt Col Verave Mae whose father was also a bandsmr I have enough on me I just give to them for en and foundation FSM etc and Papa Pisa and Sgts Keity and Piteari... em ting ting blo mi tasol... Mi sindaun wantaim aiwara pundaun lo ai blo mi na harim musik na tingim taim mi mangi lo Taurama Barracks. Dispela piksa mi bin kisim lo Goldie lo recruit pass out lo 2012. The man with the Maize is Sgt Keity, the Bagpiper on his left CWO Pisa and the Side drums is Sgt Piteari ol bai lusim mipela klostu sapos mipela ino tap in lo skills set blo ol. I always have time for this oldies whenever i have enough I just give it to them......They are legends in their own right.....
