I saw Fish today. He proudly told me he walked 300 steps this week with his new walker and had the exercise balls in his hands when I arrived. He also said the physical therapy restarted this week, which I was glad to hear. I read him some of the comments from the gofund page, he cried all the way through them because he was so touched. Surprisingly, he has lost weight instead of gaining as we would have expected with all the Strawberry Shakes, so be sure to fatten him up when you visit. He was happy to tell me he was able to leave the home for the first time to go pick up the new wheelchair from the VA on the homes bus. Now he has a taste for the outside world again and he is reinvigorated. He said he wished someone with a truck would just pick him up and take him riding around for a bit. He was thankful and gracious as always, saying how incredible his high school friends are to him. He asked me to pass his thanks to all of you for the amazing support you have given him. On a side note, we are only about $200 short of reaching our Fish fundraising goal of $3000. This will help aid their family with responsibilities that have been hard to meet with his wife being the only person working (in a restaurant). You all have been tremendously generous with your time, heart, and money. If you have considered giving to the fund, remember there is a button you can use to be anonymous, and every $5 helps.
