I saw The Conjuring tonight. It was OK. It had a few creepy moments, and a few good jump scares, but I thought it was the weakest of the movies done by director James Wan. Also, I wish I had some booze when watching it, I would have played a drinking game of “take a drink whenever you see an obvious reference or rip off or ‘homage’ to another horror movie.” Seriously, all throughout it I was like “Look, a Paranormal Activity bit, oh there’s something from The Changeling, hey, that’s from Amityville Horror, oh now they’ve moved on to The Exorcist, etc.” So all in all, not bad flick, and I’m happy it did well at the box office. Successful horror movies means more horror movies and that makes me happy. I just kind of thought it was a wee bit derivative, but then your mileage may vary and all that.
