I saw a meme. It said, "FACT: for every molecule of sugar the body requires 54 molecules of magnesium to process it." My problem with the meme is that it fails to give any comparable data: For example, how many Mg-molecules does the body need to process one molecule of amino acid or certain fatty acids? I do not know but to make an informed decision and not simply react to a meme I would need to know that. For the record, I know that excess sugar in the diet is unhealthy. This was from the same source as the meme which suggested that sugar is one atom away from cocaine. It is not: it is over 15 atoms away from cocaine and has a completely different molecular structure. Lauric acid, the active ingredient in coconut oil, is actually closer to cocaine in terms of number of atoms than sugar is! But, of course, that fact has no relevance whatsoever.
