I saw an incredible thing happen last night. It reminded me of the dove commercial where the women describe themselves and then someone else described them. The the description they gave themselves were horrible but the description other people gave of them were beautiful. A woman was asked to describe why her relationships failed and the artist would draw the outcomes on a canvas. So this lady began to go in about her relationships one after the other and how each man did her so wrong and the flaws each had. He then asked her describe herself, Im hard working, I have a degree, a nice car, I dress nice, Im very supportive of my man, Im an independent strong woman that wont settle for less or take any shit. She went on for a while and the artist just listened and continued drawing. When she was finished, the artist put some finishes touches on the painting, wrapped it up and told her not to open this up unless she breaks up with another man. The artist, a counselor that uses art as a form of counseling and teaching explained that if she uses three things in her next relationship then IT IS NOT HER THAT ISTHE PROBLEM AND SHE WAS RIGHT, SHE PICKED THE WRONG GUYS. 1)Make a vow to not yell, be crass and to talk your problems out 2)learn that you attract more bees with honey than vinegar 3)if you dont accomplish it together than its not an accomplishment at all. What you do outside of the relationship for yourself is just that, FOR YOU If you do all these things without consideration for your partner than you are FOR YOU A relationship is built on shared values and shared dreams that are thought out together and executed together. So she went out and met a wonderful hard working guy, it went well for about three years. She figured she didnt need that painting so she packed it up and put in the garage. At the end of the third year, she got a promotion at her job, bought a new car and focused on her next promotion. She bought her man some nice things with the extra money and they went out to dinner when she had time. He began to work more because she was working overtime and he also got a promotion and did well. By the end of the fourth year, they had split up. She was confused as to what happen. Then she remembered the painting. She went into the garage and ripped the paper off and saw a picture of her!!! At the bottom it said If your reading this that means you probably have a new job, a new car and are single. Youve invested 90% into you and 10% into your relationship. People that love you will be the best gift you can you have. You would have achieved the same amount of money with a carefully executed investment strategy that you and your spouse could have managed together and watched together. But instead you focused on YOU! So you see, it was never the other party, it was always you because youre all about you!
