I saw this article about the financial aspects of infertility and IVF and it really took my breath away. I am so grateful to have a job with amazing healthcare benefits that recognizes fertility as a health issue and not a want this is optional. Our IUI and IVF cycles were totally covered aside from copays of injections and medications as well as minimal copays of office visits. When you know someone, or are someone, that has gone to such extremes to grow a family, how can you NOT sit back in awe?! Ten years after having Fiona, I am hearing yet again about how I will never sleep again and the costs and all the myths of motherhood. I even have anxiety about the weight gain. But really, if it wasnt worth it, the mood swings, the let downs, the daily 6 AM appointments, the procedures, the multiple needle sticks each day....If I didnt think it was worth it even for a second, I wouldnt have done it. Which makes all of the warnings about midnight feedings and crying and teething seem so insignificant. At any rate, if you know someone who is going through this struggle, give them a hug today.
