I saw this on one of the Quilting FB page and wanted to share this with you: In honor of todays spring equinox (in the Northern Hemisphere) and in acknowledgement of the fact that many in North America are still dealing with cold weather, wed like to share this poem by Marcella Bechtel that was published in the January 1974 issue of Quilters Newsletter. PATCHWORK SPRING A golden patch for sunshine, A deep blue patch for rain, A soft rose print for the sunset, Bright green for the sprouts of grain; Deep brown for the just-turned furrow Behind the old plow-share, And this lavender matches the lilacs Whose fragrance fills the air. Outside, the snow is blowing As chill winds whistle by, But my scraps spread out around me Bring scenes of spring to mind. While I carefully join the patches It seems that in my heart A warm sun shines, the roses bloom, And the icy blasts depart. Perhaps some other winter When the days are cold and gray, My patchwork quilt will bring me The warmth of a summer day; Once more Ill smell the lilacs And hear the robins sing -- So, in the depth of winter Ill have my patchwork spring.
