I see hope for myself :) FORMER member of Geert Wilders Dutch right wing anti-Islam Freedom Party and ardent Islamophobe Arnoud van Doorn recently visited Makkah to perform his first `Umrah after embracing Islam. Allahu Akbar! Last week he visited Makkah, Madinah and Riyadh and met the Imam of Masjid an-Nabawi, Ali Al-Hudhaify and Dr. Abdullah Al-Zahrani, Scholar of Hadith Sciences and Professor at Um Al-Qura University in Makkah . Arnoud was among the Freedom Party leaders who produced the blasphemous film, Fitna. Last month he BIJa5o-CMAAHcUsreverted to Islam after an extensive study about the religion and the Prophet (salAllahu alaihy wasallam). He announced his decision to accept Islam on his Twitter profile and also posted a tweet in Arabic declaring the Shahadah. He said that the worldwide protests against the film made him study about the Prophet (salAllahu alaihy wasallam) and that eventually led him to accept Islam. Most recently, the politician filed a formal application to the mayor of the city to allow him to perform prayers obligatory for Muslims during his working hours. “I can understand people are skeptic, especially that it is unexpected for many of them,” Doorn told Al-Jazeera. Driven by his party’s anti-Islam discourse, Doorn decided to dig in for the truth about the religion himself. “I have heard so many negative stories about Islam, but I am not a person who follows opinions of others without doing my own research,” he said. “Therefore, I have actually started to deepen my knowledge of Islam out of curiosity.” Subhan Allah! This reminded me of the ayah where Allah says, “But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners. (al-Anfal, 30) And by my conversion to Islam I have the feeling that I finally found my path. I realize that this is a new start and that I still have much to learn as well.” “If any person told me that I will visit the land of the two Holy lands, I would have told him that he must be insane,” Doorn told al-Madinah newspaper. “Finding Islam is a dream come true,” a tearful Doorn added.
