I see it all the time – multiple list entries for the same customer in QuickBooks. You’ve got Smith, Frank and Frank Smith. You may even have more than that. So what do you do to clean that up? QuickBooks allows you to merge those into one customer. Just Edit the customer name you don’t want to use and change it to the same name as the entry you want to merge with. Click OK, then click Yes to confirm that you want to merge the two names. All the transactions for both entries are now combined under the name you want to use. You can also do this with Vendors, Accounts, Items, and Other Names. You can only merge the same type of list entries – a customer with a customer, a vendor with a vendor, an account with an account, etc. You cannot undo a merge, so proceed carefully and get that list cleaned up.
