I see that I am out of synch with a lot of Facebook people, who disagree with Russell Brand, and think that he - and presumably other people - should vote and/or shut up. But what choice is there? The Labour party doesnt stand for a different system. It is still capitalism, but with a tad more public sector thrown in. There comes a point post-Blair and Obama, when the left has had its hopes dashed so many times that it would almost be idiocy to stay believing in this template of democracy. People say all very well, but what is the alternative yet we should first be right to identify the problem. I grew up in a pure Labour household. Parents who went on CND marches and liked Michael Foot. My parents stay loyal to Labour and to this weak version of democracy but I think it is harder for my generation to do so.
