I see that Robert Reich weighed in on the Keystone Pipeline. The - TopicsExpress

I see that Robert Reich weighed in on the Keystone Pipeline. The oil that would flow through that pipeline is truly crappy. It has to be partially refined in Canada just to get it thin enough to flow through the pipeline, in addition it is very sour (corrosive). And personally I hate to see anything done that makes it easier for 1% (like Chas. Koch) to exploit resources for additional wealth. But, having said that, there is a simple way to insure the pipeline does not fail. The CEO, Chairman of the Board, and President of each company who handles the oil that flows through that pipeline from the Canadian Border to the Gas Pump, must sign a bond. If there is a spill, they each will have to spend 1 day in jail for each 1 gallon spilled. And not a white collar jail, a blue collar jail. I assure you that their would never be a spill in that pipeline. Preventive maintenance, inspections, pairs and upgrades would be made promptly and correctly.
