I seem to be seeing a latent rise in the suggestion that Disney is going to ruin Star Wars, cropping up in my news feed... Although, my feeds been a bit wacky as of late. But I mean, really? Youre worried about Star Wars NOW? Where were these folks when Episode I came out? Dont get me wrong... Im one of the most forgiving people when it comes to the prequel trilogy. I still watch them, on occasion. I still watch the last dvd release of the original trilogy, with all the CG updates implemented and embellished since the Special Edition re-releases. And theyre all freaking out about Disney. My friends, I have given a name to your pain, and that name is George Lucas. I admire the man, I admire what hes done. I enjoy living vicariously within the confines of his brilliant, space fantasy world. But, lets be frank, he went back to the well too many times for his, or our own good. Hey, Im no stranger to seeking perfection in my creative pursuits. But thats before they ever become commercially viable. If ever they do. Lucas is an idea man... But he wasnt equipped to see those ideas realized without the help of others. And his directing, if the words of that original triumvirate of Hamill, Fisher and Ford are to be taken seriously, was vague and stunted. So why so much Disney hate toward Star Wars? Be cautious, apprehensive even, yes. But realize there were problems with Star Wars already. Thats kind of why Ive spent more time with Star Trek and Doctor Who.
