I seen the article about the `70 St. Marys backfield in daily standard, I believe we need to get back to more old school Philosophy. I remember being all wound up about playing sports, I grew up in East view park, playing baseball and basketball and nerf football, We had neighborhood teams and played all the time. I would like to see a show case done about coaches in the past. The rivalries etc. I had spinal meningitis when I was a kid and wasnt allowed to play football and how I dreamed of being a wide receiver, I quit going to football and basketball games here in past years because it is so hard to get parking place etc. I would love to go back and root root for the home team lol. I would like to see kids get more interested in sports . About the History and traditions. I was cut from the basketball team in 7th and 8 th grade and I think I could have helped make that team better. 1981-1982 Celina sports were down and I had to be persuaded by Glen Hamen to play baseball. I wasnt the fasted pitcher but I changed speeds well and had 3 different types of curve balls. I was 1-3 my junior year, I was beat 2-1 by coldwater, 1-0 by Bowling Green and 7-6 by St Marys . I beat the WBL player of the year in 1982 , 3- 0 He played for Defiance. I finished the year 5-2. I wish I could go back and do it all over again. I remember Mr Hamen telling me I could be good. And man do I wish we could talk again Mr. Hamen. I want to teach pride and tradition to young people.
