I send you my warmest wishes in the midst of this holiday season. I am writing to update you on the crowd sourcing campaign for the Hollywood Beauty Salon documentary. I can’t tell you how thrilling it is to see a community of caring people emerging, one that will make finishing the film possible. Amazing. We are almost 50% there, which is also amazing. Darlene Holmes Malone, a participant in the film, does a beautiful job of reminding me of her reason for participating in the film: Any time you say “bipolar” or “schizophrenia” or any of those terms, people don’t really understand. When people find that out about me they’re like “Whoa, I don’t see that in you.” And I’m like, “But yet I have it.” So I want to put a face on it, because it’s not the face that you think it is. Here is a video clip featuring the strong and impressive Darlene. On the supporter side of this community, one new donor to the film recently sent me these inspiring words along with his gift: Yes, there are so many people suffering from depression and oppression and stress for all kinds of reasons. Supporting each other in kindness and understanding in a community group may be one of the most powerful ways to heal our wounds and move into a more positive and self-respectful life path. I love these words. Thanks so much to all of you for similar sentiments, and for your remarkable support.
